Artist's Statement
My oil paintings are in the Expressionist Tradition and motivated by intuition through the painterly activation of the canvas surface. I then respond to the optical "events" that occur, through a series of subtractions and additions, until the work itself signals its completion. This process may take one week or one year. My means of expression are the palette knife and brush. The results reflect the flat patterns, texture and intense vibrating color exemplified in the Expressionist Tradition.
